ADI: Australian Driving Institute

The Complete Driver Education Program

On Road Driver Development

Introduction

Driving defensively is about 'surviving the drive!' That drive may only be to and from school, work, sport or even a long trip. 80% of drivers have limited knowledge about what can go wrong and what to do when it does.

Here are some simple questions;

  1. What is the safe distance to travel from the vehicle in front?
  2. How long in metres does it take to stop from 60 and 100kph?
  3. What should you do if you slide?
  4. If you skid, what affects the car?
  5. Are you between 18 and 80?
  6. How many hours can a driver safely do before your metabolism slows too much to drive safely?
  7. What is the correct and safe cornering method for the road?

The ADI has put into practice many of the skills and lessons learnt with our large corporate clients who insist on high standards of awareness and being preventative in their driving style. The questions (above) have a direct relationship to safe driving. We have the answers to these and more, so call us with your answers. A number of these large companies have had close to Zero crash rates for a three year period. It works and it works very effectively for all drivers of all ages with all experiences. So effective, the Test drivers and Engineers at Mitsubishi Australia must successfully complete a course similar to this prior to more advanced and technical levels of training.

What You Learn

We relax drivers so we can unobtrusively observe their strengths and weaknesses. this assessment provides the information we require to 'individualise' the training. The program in its generic form deals with the weaknesses of the average driver and steadily improve on them. Even significant changes within the program to suit an individual, do not adversely affect the course structure or outcome.

We aim to produce a driver who is not only polished in style but understands prevention and drives the vehicle accordingly. We aim to encourage all drivers to become better educated by involving them in their driving, the risks associated with driving and why they exist. The course goes for one day (9:00am to about 4:30pm) and is best done with two students* and one instructor. It is better value and the day more enjoyable. You will also need your own car. Sounds complex? Not after a day of hard work!
