Q. My son/daughter has just got their driver’s licence and I am very worried about their safety on the road. Is there a defensive driving course for young people or P Platers?
A. We have a defensive driving program specifically for youth and younger drivers. Whether you have a son or daughter who have recently obtained their probationary licence (P plater) or they have been driving for a few years, our AUSTDRIVE programs are ideal for teaching young drivers the driving skills and knowledge that sit well above what they have already learnt; cornering, hazards, attitude, emergency braking, split surface driving, the 3 second gap and so much more. We have 3 options for youth drivers to improve their driving skills:

1. AUSTDRIVE II

The young drivers in your life can undertake our 1 Day (8.30am – 4.30pm) Youth defensive driving course on a 1:1 basis with an instructor or they can invite 1 or 2 of their friends along to participate at no additional cost. You can discuss the pricing for this program by contacting us on 08 8322 8555 or clientmgr@austdrive.com. We recommend the young drivers undertake this program in their own vehicle or a vehicle that they drive regularly. However, The Australian Driving Institute can also provide a vehicle for the day if necessary, for $175 + gst ($200 + gst in Victoria). You can view more details about our Austdrive II programs here.

2. AUSTDRIVE I

For young drivers in rural and remote areas of Australia, we have a special 1 Day (8.30am – 5.00pm) defensive driving program available. This youth defensive driver training is aimed at promoting the importance of ensuring our young people develop their knowledge and skills associated with safe driving practices and increasing their awareness of preventative driving strategies that sit well above Australian road law. This community-based program for young drivers in rural Australia is organised in conjunction with rural high schools and councils. The ratio of participants to instructors is capped at 20 participants between 2 instructors for the day. If you would like to arrange this program to be held in your location, please contact us on 08 8322 88555 or send an email to clientmgr@austdrive.com.
